On Wednesdays We Wear Scales  A midweek check-in from your favorite pink-haired reptile nurse. Hey! This week’s creature feature is the only warm-blooded critter in the zoo, the one who supervises enclosure builds, judges my late-night snack choices, and insists on daily snuggles no matter how busy life gets. Feature: Sapphire — The Only Mammal in the Zoo Meet Sapphire. The only warm-blooded resident at Sweet Ave Zoo. The emotional support supervisor. The quality control inspector. The reason I go outside and touch grass even if it's to pick up her poop. While the reptiles, amphibians, and inverts thrive in carefully regulated environments, Sapphire thrives on connection. She reminds me that keeping animals isn’t just about heat gradients and humidity, it’s about consistency, affection, and showing up every day.
