After closing on a house, surviving paperwork chaos, and keeping Sweet Ave Zoo running through it all, it felt like the right time to pause and appreciate the person who helps make all of this possible. Feature: Steve — Co-Curator & Assistant Zookeeper Meet Steve: the man behind the scenes, the unofficial assistant zookeeper, and the person who keeps me grounded when my brain is running at 100 tabs open. Steve is the one helping lift enclosures, listening to me talk through reptile room plans out loud, double-checking that doors are locked, and reminding me to eat something other than caffeine. He’s been especially solid through the entire home-buying process, calm when things were stressful, steady when things felt overwhelming, and endlessly supportive even when the logistics got heavy. Sweet Ave Zoo might be my project, but it’s never been a solo effort. Having someone who believes in the work, respects the animals, and supports the chaos behind the scenes makes all the difference.
