When a snake sheds in ragged, flaky pieces (a condition called dysecdysis) it's usually a warning sign that something in their environment is off. A stuck shed isn't just an eyesore; it can actually become dangerous. The two biggest zones to watch are the tip of the tail and the eyes: The Tail Tip Trap: If old skin gets stuck on the very end of the tail, it can dry up, shrink, and act like a tiny tourniquet.
